Nightcap National Park

Nightcap National Park is a World Heritage-protected area in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, encompassing the southern reaches of the Nightcap Range within the Great Dividing Range system. The park was established in April 1983 following intense conservation campaigns against rainforest logging at Terania Creek between 1979 and 1982, which became the first anti-logging demonstrations in Australian rainforests. Covering approximately 8,080 hectares, the park sits on the south-eastern edge of the ancient Mount Warning erosion caldera, with the tallest peak, Mount Burrell (also known as Blue Knob), reaching 933 metres above sea level. The park is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Site, inscribed in 1986, which protects remnants of subtropical rainforest with exceptional biodiversity and geological significance dating back over 23 million years to the Tweed shield volcano eruptions.
