Obersäckingen Protected Landscape

Obersäckingen is a small protected landscape in the southern Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg, in southwestern Germany. It lies northeast of the village of Obersäckingen, within the municipality of Bad Säckingen in the Waldshut district, and falls almost entirely inside the Natura 2000 habitat site "Murg zum Hochrhein." The reserve covers roughly 41.5 hectares of varied low-mountain countryside. Its character is shaped by an attractive mosaic of woodland, small field copses, hedgerows, and open grassland that includes species-rich oat-grass meadows typical of the southern Black Forest. Designated in 2004, the landscape protection area focuses on preserving this traditional countryside and the ecological value of its open habitats, while also supporting the area's role as a local place for outdoor recreation.
