Přírodní park Heřmanův Městec

Přírodní park Heřmanův Městec is a protected landscape park sitting on the eastern and southeastern outskirts of the small town of Heřmanův Městec in the Chrudim district of the Czech Republic. Declared in 1996, the park covers an area of roughly 341 hectares at the meeting point between the Svitavská pahorkatina uplands to the north and the northern foothills of the Železné hory to the south. The park is not a single contiguous wilderness but a mosaic of three distinct zones: an ornamental château park with arboretum, a larger forested lesopark called Palác, and a separately located oak woodland called Bažantnice north of the main road. Its character is shaped by centuries of aristocratic landscape design layered onto natural foothill slopes, with a stream-fed château pond, designed vistas, and mixed woodland of both native and introduced tree species. Beyond its scenic and recreational role, the park holds genuine conservation importance. The château park and Bažantnice are also protected as the Heřmanův Městec natural monument and form part of the Natura 2000 network, largely because of the presence of the rare beetle páchník hnědý, together with significant colonies of bats in the château's cellar and attic spaces.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
