Dolina Potoku Rudno Nature Reserve

Dolina Potoku Rudno is a small protected nature reserve in the Małopolskie (Lesser Poland) Voivodeship of southern Poland, covering a forested section of the Rudno Stream valley on the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. Established in 2001, the reserve spans roughly 96 hectares and forms part of the larger Orlej Forest complex that is itself incorporated into the Rudniański Landscape Park. The protected area is defined by the natural corridor of the Rudno Stream, which in places has cut a steep, rocky gorge into the surrounding slopes. Forest cover is dominated by well-preserved alder floodplain woodland (łęg olszowy) and alder swamp forest (ols), habitats uncommon and ecologically valuable in this part of Poland. On the western edge of the reserve, old porphyry quarry workings expose geological outcrops that complement the biological interest of the valley. The reserve is especially notable for hosting populations of giant horsetail (skrzyp olbrzymi), one of its recognized botanical curiosities, and for combining woodland, stream, gorge, and geological exposure in a single compact protected unit. It lies between the villages of Zalas and Sanka to the east and Brodła and Poręba Żegoty to the west, making it an accessible yet quiet natural enclave on the edge of the urban influence of Kraków.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
