Rodauwiesen bei Rollwald

Rodauwiesen bei Rollwald is a small nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the south of the German state of Hesse, administered within the Landkreis Offenbach. It lies in the municipal area of Rodgau, between the districts of Rollwald and Ober-Roden, and is set in the natural region of the Untermainebene, the broad lowland plain of the River Main. The reserve protects an area of around 32 hectares of open grassland that has long characterized the floodplain of the Rodau, a small tributary of the Main. The protected landscape combines surviving patches of moist and wet meadow with a large, continuous stretch of common reed (Schilfröhricht). Designated in 1999, the area continues to support habitats for rare and threatened species of flora and fauna that depend on these open, traditionally shaped grassland and reed environments in an otherwise heavily urbanized part of the Rhine-Main region. Although compact in size, the reserve is ecologically meaningful: it preserves one of the remaining greenland-dominated stretches of the Rodau valley near Rodgau and provides an important refuge for wetland-influenced habitats between the settlements of Rollwald and Ober-Roden.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
