Ronov Nature Reserve

Ronov is a striking basalt hill in the western part of the Ralská pahorkatina highlands of northern Bohemia, Czech Republic. Rising to 552 meters in a prominent cone-shaped silhouette, it stands out from the surrounding rolling landscape of the Polomené hory and serves as a recognizable landmark when viewed from nearby peaks such as Vlhošť. The slopes and summit of the hill are protected as a small nature reserve, primarily valued for their extensive stone seas, scree habitats, and unusual vegetation, including large populations of martagon lily and the rare Cotoneaster integerrimus shrub. The summit also carries the ruins of the medieval Ronov Castle, giving the hill a layered identity that blends geological, ecological, and cultural significance. Because of its position within the broader Kokořínsko – Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area, Ronov contributes to a wider network of habitats that connect volcanic uplands, deciduous forest, and the conservation corridors of the Dokeská pahorkatina.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
