Sierra de las Nieves National Park

Sierra de las Nieves National Park is a protected natural area in the mountainous interior of the Costa del Sol region in southern Spain, within the province of Málaga in Andalusia. The park occupies the core of the Sierra de las Nieves range, part of the larger Serranía de Ronda, and protects some of the highest terrain in western Andalusia, with Pico Torrecilla reaching 1,919 meters. The park is distinguished by remarkable geological diversity, featuring karst landscapes with deep caves, sinkholes, and dramatic limestone cliffs, as well as the unique Sierra Bermeja with its extensive peridotite formations. Perhaps most significantly, the park harbors the world's largest and most important stands of Spanish fir (Abies pinsapo), a Tertiary-era conifer endemic to the mountain ranges of Málaga and Cádiz, representing a botanical relic of extraordinary conservation importance.
