Uggerby Klitplantage and Uggerby Å Estuary

Uggerby Klitplantage and Uggerby Å's udløb is a Danish Natura 2000 site located along the northwestern coast of Jutland, east of Hirtshals and reaching southwest toward Tversted along Tannis Bugt. The site covers 717 hectares of planted and naturally regenerated dune habitats clustered around the mouth of Uggerby Å where the river meets the sea. The area is recognized for its continuous sequence of green dune habitats, including younger foredunes, white dunes, grey-green dunes, sea buckthorn dunes, crowberry-dominated dunes, and wooded dune communities, together with dune slacks and small nutrient-rich lakes. Aquatic habitats along the river and its estuary add further ecological value. The site has particular importance for protected plant and animal species typical of dynamic coastal dune landscapes in northern Denmark. It is part of the broader European Natura 2000 network of habitat sites and is coordinated with Denmark's aquatic management plans for the northern Kattegat and Skagerrak.
