Wilhelmsthaler und Haller Bachtal

Wilhelmsthaler und Haller Bachtal is a small nature reserve located on the territory of the city of Remscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the hilly landscape of the Bergisches Land. The protected area extends east of the Hackenberg district and surrounds the small settlement of Halle, following the course of two connected brooks: the Hallebeeke in the Haller Bachtal and the Wilhelmsthaler Bach, which eventually flows into the River Wupper near Wilhelmstal. The reserve is recognised for the unusually tight interweaving of many rare habitat types within a very small area. It combines species-rich meadows, hedgerow networks, ponds, wet woodland, and stream-side habitats, creating a compact but ecologically rich landscape mosaic. Designated in 2003 under the designation RS-016, it is now managed as a habitat and species management area by the lower landscape authority of the city of Remscheid. Although modest in size, the area is highly valued for the conservation of endangered plant and animal species tied to traditional cultural landscapes and small valley streams. It functions both as a refuge for declining meadow flora and as a corridor linking forest, brook, and grassland habitats in the broader Remscheid region.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
