Spring and early summer, before the hottest months, can also bring brief periods of biological activity after snowmelt, when annual plants germinate along the old river channels and migratory birds are present near Lake Ebinur. Winter visits are possible but require preparation for low temperatures and high winds, particularly near the Alashankou corridor.
