Krebsbachtal bei Kaichen

Krebsbachtal bei Kaichen is a compact nature reserve in central Hesse, Germany, spanning roughly 34 hectares in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis near the border with the Wetteraukreis. It occupies a narrow, roughly 2.5 kilometer long stream valley of the Krebsbach between the villages of Kaichen (part of Niddatal), Erbstadt, and Heldenbergen (both part of Nidderau), with the surrounding Hainwald mixed forest rising along its slopes. The reserve was established in 1988 to safeguard a remarkably diverse small-scale landscape for the region: wet and moist meadows, nutrient-poor lean grasslands, orchard meadows (Streuobstwiesen), hedgerows, scattered ponds, and species-rich forest communities. Although small in size, the area is recognized locally as an unusually rich habitat complex supporting rare and protected plant and animal species, and it preserves a quiet example of traditional Hessen countryside shaped by centuries of low-intensity land use.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
