Młochowski Grąd Nature Reserve

Młochowski Grąd is a small forest nature reserve located in the Masovian Voivodeship of central Poland, within the administrative area of Nadarzyn commune in Pruszków County. The reserve protects surviving fragments of natural forest communities that are characteristic of the lowland Polish landscape, particularly a high oak-hornbeam type woodland known as grąd and patches of continental mixed coniferous forest. Although compact in size, it is valued for the age and natural character of its tree stands, which include oak and pine specimens roughly 180 years old. The reserve lies in the Równina Łowicko-Błońska mesoregion, a flat agricultural and forested plain west of Warsaw. Its protection focuses on maintaining the integrity of native forest communities rather than on any single dramatic landscape feature. A marked hiking trail skirts the reserve, linking it to the nearby Młochowski Łęg reserve and the village of Żelechów, allowing visitors to experience the broader forested surroundings of the Młochów area. The site also serves as a quiet outdoor classroom thanks to an educational trail within the reserve. Beyond its conservation role, Młochowski Grąd has had a small but notable place in woodland research. Its tree stands were used to validate a remote-sensing method for estimating tree species diversity from RGB imagery of forest canopies, illustrating how even modest Polish lowland forests can contribute to applied ecological science.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
