Młochowski Łęg Nature Reserve

Młochowski Łęg Nature Reserve is a small forest nature reserve located in the Masovian Voivodeship of central Poland, within the administrative area of Gmina Nadarzyn. It lies in the lowland Łowicz-Błonie Plain, in the floodplain of the Utrata River, a lowland watercourse south of Warsaw. The reserve was established on 4 July 1984 to protect a fragment of ash-alder floodplain forest (known in Polish as las łęgowy jesionowo-olszowy), together with patches of oak-hornbeam forest (grąd) found in the river valley. Although the reserve covers only about 12 hectares, it preserves a characteristic and ecologically valuable wetland woodland community in an otherwise heavily used lowland landscape. The local stand is dominated by alder, with occasional ash and spruce, and the understory includes several shrub species typical of moist lowland forests. The reserve forms part of a network of small protected woodland sites connected by a marked hiking trail. Its significance is primarily ecological: it conserves a representative fragment of natural floodplain forest within a lowland agricultural and suburban region, and it contributes to habitat continuity along the Utrata River valley. The reserve is also a place of public environmental education, with an interpretive trail and information boards explaining its woodland character.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
