Na horách

Na horách is a small protected natural monument in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, located on a sloping hillside near the village of Křešín in the Příbram district. The site covers about 4.86 hectares of dry, sun-exposed grassland at elevations between roughly 420 and 455 meters, situated within the Brdy Highlands geomorphological unit. Its protected status, declared in 1997, focuses on a particularly rich assemblage of thermophilous (warm-loving) grassland plants, including the nationally significant meadow pasqueflower (Pulsatilla pratensis subsp. bohemica) and the green-winged orchid (Orchis morio). Although the area is modest in size, it is ecologically important because the combination of shallow skeletal soils, ancient Cambrian sedimentary bedrock, and a traditional grazing history has preserved a habitat that has largely disappeared elsewhere in the intensively farmed Czech lowlands and foothills. The reserve also overlaps with a European Site of Community Importance, indicating its recognized value within the Natura 2000 network. The current character of the site reflects both natural processes and centuries of low-intensity human land use, from medieval iron ore mining and sheep grazing to twentieth-century reforestation attempts and modern habitat restoration. Today the landscape is an open mosaic of dry grassland dotted with solitary junipers, Scots pines, and occasional hardwoods, offering a glimpse of the threatened semi-natural steppe-like flora of the Bohemian uplands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
