It covers an inconspicuous summit and one of the only upland peat bogs still found on the highest parts of the range, together with the nearby Quarre mire. The site is part of the broader protected landscape of the Jizera Mountains and is valued for its mountain pine stands, granite boulder field, and hydrological significance as a summit area from which water drains in several directions. The area is administered as a přírodní památka (natural monument) within the larger Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area and contributes to European-level ecological networks, including the Jizerské smrčiny site of community importance and the Jizera Mountains bird protection area. Although its summit is modest in elevation and easily overlooked, the protected zone plays an important role in conserving one of the rarest upland mire ecosystems in the Czech part of the Jizera range.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
