Ostoja Rogalińska

Ostoja Rogalińska is a Special Protection Area for birds in central Wielkopolska, Poland, designated under the Natura 2000 network and identified by the code PLB300017. It extends along the left bank of the Warta River south of Poznań, encompassing a wide swathe of the Wielkopolska Lowland between Stęszew, Mosina, Śrem, and Zaborowo. The area is a classic post-glacial landscape shaped by retreating ice sheets, dotted with numerous lakes, inland dunes, kettle hollows, and scattered erratics. Pine-dominated forests with oak, spruce, birch, hornbeam, and linden give way to boggy alder woods and willow thickets in wetter ground, while the famous Rogalin oaks form one of the most celebrated old-growth tree groups in the country. The site's importance lies in its ornithological value: a long list of bird species of European conservation concern has been documented here, alongside mammals such as the Eurasian beaver and European otter, dragonflies, and old-growth forest invertebrates tied to veteran oaks. The protection area overlaps with the northern part of Wielkopolski National Park and the southern part of the Rogaliński Landscape Park, and includes two nature reserves: Krajkowo and Goździk Siny w Grzybnie.
