A small peat bog nature reserve in the Czech-Moravian Highlands.

Rašeliniště Kaliště

Rašeliniště Kaliště is a small protected nature reserve located near the village of Jihlávka in the Jihlava District of the Vysočina Region, in the Czech Republic. The reserve sits on the Czech-Moravian Highlands at an elevation of around 650 meters and covers only about 12 hectares, making it a compact but ecologically significant site. The reserve protects a meadow-type peat bog, an uncommon wetland habitat in this part of central Europe. Its main conservation value lies in the preservation of rare and threatened flora, especially bryophyte communities that thrive in the bog's saturated, nutrient-poor conditions. The site is administered by the Krajský úřad Kraje Vysočina under the broader framework of the Czech nature conservation system. Despite its modest size, Rašeliniště Kaliště is recognized as one of the most important bryological peatland localities in the Czech-Moravian Highlands. It serves as a refuge for several moss species that have become rare elsewhere in the region, reflecting both the ecological fragility of upland peatlands and the long-term conservation importance of even very small protected wetland sites.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
