Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park

Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park is a 347-hectare protected coastal park in Parksville, on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is known above all for a roughly two-kilometre stretch of fine sandy beach facing the Strait of Georgia, which at low tide extends almost a kilometre seaward. Inland from the beach, the park preserves a stand of old-growth Douglas fir trees, a rare feature along this heavily developed stretch of coast. The park combines a classic Pacific shore setting with surprisingly mature forest, and supports both day use and one of the province's most popular campgrounds. Managed by BC Parks, Rathtrevor Beach is a magnet for families, beach walkers, and birdwatchers, and is widely regarded as a defining natural landmark of the Parksville Qualicum region. Its combination of accessibility, beachfront scenery, and old-growth forest gives it an importance well beyond its modest size.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
