Bolimowski Landscape Park

Bolimowski Landscape Park is a protected area in central Poland, stretching across the border between the Łódzkie and Mazowieckie voivodeships. It preserves a substantial remnant of the historic Bolimowska, Wiskicka, Miedniewicka, Korabiewska and Jaktorowska primeval forests, now combined into what is collectively known as Puszcza Bolimowska. These forests stand as a rare wooded enclave amid the largely agricultural plains of the Łowicz and Skierniewice region. The heart of the park is the Rawka River valley, which retains much of its natural lowland character as it winds through the forest, creating meanders, oxbow lakes, gullies and terraces. Surrounding the river, pine-dominated forests, oak-hornbeam stands, light oak groves, meadow clearings, peatlands, fishponds and marshy alder swamps form a varied mosaic of habitats. Together they support more than 900 vascular plant species and well over a hundred breeding bird species. Established in 1986, the park serves both as a refuge for characteristic central Polish wildlife, including moose, beaver, otter, lynx and fallow deer, and as a landscape buffer protecting the ecological corridor of the Rawka valley. Its forested setting is enriched by neighbouring cultural landmarks, ranging from the Nieborów palace and the romantic park at Arkadia to historic churches, manor houses, and World War I cemeteries that line the former front along the Rawka.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
