Booßener Teichgebiet

Booßener Teichgebiet is a nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the German state of Brandenburg, covering roughly 104 hectares across parts of the town of Lebus in the Landkreis Märkisch-Oderland and the independent city of Frankfurt (Oder). The reserve lies in the valley of a former glacial meltwater channel on the edge of the Lebuser Platte, southeast of Wulkow and northeast of Booßen, only a few kilometers west of the Oder river and the German-Polish border. The protected area combines several contrasting habitat types within a compact landscape: the valley of the Booßener Mühlenfließ, a series of impounded ponds known as Stauteiche, surrounding wetlands, and dry slopes with xerothermic biotopes. This mosaic of wet and dry environments, set against the broader agricultural and river landscapes of the eastern Oder region, gives the reserve its conservation significance. Booßener Teichgebiet was first established as a protected area on 21 March 2000 and was re-designated under a new statutory ordinance on 26 March 2008. It is registered in the World Database on Protected Areas under WDPA-ID 389578 and is classified as an IUCN Category IV Habitat/Species Management Area.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
