Cieszynianka Nature Reserve

The Cieszynianka Nature Reserve is a small floristic nature reserve located in the Mogilany commune in the Kraków County area of the Lesser Poland (Małopolskie) voivodeship in southern Poland. It sits roughly one kilometer northwest of the center of Mogilany, on the forested northern slopes of a local hill near the headwaters of the Rzepnik stream. Established in 1969, the reserve covers an area of about 10 hectares and is surrounded by a protective buffer zone of roughly 25 hectares. Its defining purpose is to safeguard an island-like (isolated) population of the spring-flowering cieszynianka plant (Cieszynianka wiosenna), a rare species whose presence here represents one of its characteristic lowland foothill stations in Poland. The reserve is set within a beech and birch woodland on the slopes overlooking the Skawinka valley landscape, an area that blends foothill forest habitats with small rural settlements such as Chorowice, Kulerzów, and Buków. Although very small in size, Cieszynianka is a regionally significant botanical site that highlights how minor protected areas can preserve rare plant populations in otherwise heavily settled countryside.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
