Dolina Gwdy Nature Reserve

Dolina Gwdy Nature Reserve is a landscape reserve located in the gmina (municipality) of Czarne in Człuchowski County, within Pomeranian Voivodeship in northern Poland. Established in 1998, the reserve protects a stretch of the Gwda River valley together with a section of its tributary the Czernica, where the river has carved a distinctive system of meanders, flood terraces, and ravines into the surrounding terrain. The protected area covers roughly 425 hectares of riverine, boggy, and forested terrain. Its purpose is to preserve characteristic landforms of the Gwda valley along with old-growth alder swamp forests and coniferous stands that contain notably large, veteran trees. The reserve also retains traces of the historical forest-settlement landscape and the remains of an older water-regulation infrastructure that once shaped the valley's hydrology. As a focused landscape-level protection site, Dolina Gwdy contributes to the broader network of protected areas along the Gwda River corridor, adjoining the Wałeckie Lakeland and Gwda Valley Protected Landscape Area on its western side. It stands out for combining river geomorphology, hydrological heritage, and ancient wetland forests within a single compact reserve.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
