Průchodnice

Průchodnice is a small nature reserve in the Prostějov district of the Olomouc Region in the Czech Republic. It lies in the southern part of the Zábřežská vrchovina highlands, on a beech-covered hill known as Stráň, also called Průchodnice. The reserve was established in 1985 and protects Devonian limestone outcrops that rise out of the forested slope and contain short cave passages. The defining feature of the reserve is a limestone ridge roughly 120 meters long and around 12 meters high at its tallest point. Within this rock mass are three small cave passages, two of which can be walked all the way through, giving the site its descriptive name. Around the caves and on the rocky slopes grow rare plants, while the caves themselves shelter wintering bats, making the reserve an ecologically compact mix of geology, woodland, and cave habitat. Though modest in size, Průchodnice sits in a region known for much larger and more decorated cave systems, several of which lie nearby. The reserve's role is more about preserving a smaller, scientifically interesting karst feature and a rich forest patch than competing with the show caves of the area, and it remains a quiet destination for nature-oriented visitors.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
