Ptačí stěna

Ptačí stěna is a small nature reserve in the Český Krumlov District of South Bohemia, Czechia, set on the southwestern slope of Bulový within the forested Blanský les protected landscape area. The reserve protects a steep, boulder-rich hillside clothed in submontane and montane beech forest, with a notable admixture of wych elm and a richly structured understory typical of old-growth Central European woodlands. The defining geological feature of the site is an extensive granulite frost-riven cliff that runs roughly 800 meters along the upper margin of the reserve and rises up to about 15 meters above the slope. Below it, the talus apron extends outward for around 100 meters and is dominated by large blocks, several of them reaching about three meters across, creating the cool, humid microhabitats that the reserve is known for. Beyond its unusual combination of mature forest and dramatic rock-talus landforms, Ptačí stěna is also valued for its fauna, including the presence of the alpine shrew in moist scree pockets. The reserve is a focused, quietly exceptional example of the natural heritage of southern Bohemia.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
