Puszcza Biała

Puszcza Biała is one of the largest surviving forest complexes of the Mazovian Lowland in east-central Poland. Stretching roughly between Pułtusk and Ostrów Mazowiecka in the fork between the Bug and Narew rivers, the forest forms a broad, lowland woodland landscape that dominates the regional scenery of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. Although it is not a national park in the strict sense, Puszcza Biała is widely recognized as a major natural area. Its character is defined by extensive pine stands, sandy lowland soils, river corridors, and a network of small protected reserves. The forest is part of the European Natura 2000 ecological network, reflecting its importance for habitat conservation at a continental scale. The forest is also notable for its layered human history. Once tightly managed for centuries by the Bishops of Płock, Puszcza Biała later suffered from over-exploitation during the 19th century but recovered significantly through 20th-century reforestation. Today it serves as a quiet, expansive green space between two of Poland's most important lowland rivers.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
