Rotfilz

Rotfilz is a small moorland and designated nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the Bavarian Forest region of southeastern Germany. It sits in the valley floor of the Großer Regen river, northwest of the village of Ludwigsthal and within the municipal area of Zwiesel, in the Landkreis Regen district of Lower Bavaria. The site lies at roughly 600 metres elevation on Pleistocene slope loam and alluvial deposits over cordierite and biotite gneiss bedrock. Its central character is defined by actively drained peatland, mature bog pine stands, and ongoing efforts to restore the moorland's natural water balance. Although modest in size, Rotfilz is ecologically significant as a protected fragment of the once more extensive peatland mosaic of the inner Bavarian Forest, and it represents one of the longer-standing moor conservation sites in the region, first designated in 1973.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
