Starodub w Pełkiniach

Starodub w Pełkiniach is a Community importance site and a proposed Special Area of Conservation in the Natura 2000 network, located in south-eastern Poland. It is a compact meadow complex of roughly 574 hectares in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, lying between the villages of Chałupki, Jagiełła, Wólka Pełkińska, Pełkinie, Ujezna, and Rozbórz, across the rural communes of Tryńcza, Jarosław, and Przeworsk. The site exists primarily to safeguard the Polish population of the starodub łąkowy (Angelica palustris), a wetland-dependent plant listed in Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive. The protection regime also covers two Annex I habitat types: fresh meadows and the more specialised Molinia caerulea meadows known as łąki trzęślicowe. Within the regional landscape, the area sits at the intersection of the Podgórze Rzeszowskie foothills and the Lower San River valley, giving it a transitional character between upland meadow habitats and the wetter floodplain meadows associated with the San system.
