Logné Bog Regional Nature Reserve

The Logné Bog Regional Nature Reserve protects a raised sphagnum peatland in the Loire-Atlantique department of western France, on the outskirts of the Nantes metropolitan area. Situated on the left bank of the Erdre valley between Carquefou and Sucé-sur-Erdre, the reserve covers roughly 70 hectares of one of the last raised bogs still surviving in the Grand Ouest of France and the southernmost lowland bog of its kind in Europe. The site is recognized as a botanical and ecological landmark. It shelters more than 200 vascular plant species, including protected northern plants at the southern edge of their range, alongside a rich bryophyte flora and exceptional invertebrate communities. The bog also hosts notable reptile and amphibian populations and, since 2010, a regular presence of the European otter. Protected since 1993 through conservation work led by the association Bretagne Vivante, and officially classified as a Regional Nature Reserve in 2011, the site combines fragile relict habitat, active restoration, and strong environmental education in a landscape shaped by 4,000 years of peat-forming history near one of France's major cities.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
