Valcha Natural Monument

Valcha is a small protected natural monument in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, situated roughly four kilometers east of the town of Bělá pod Bezdězem in the Mladá Boleslav district. The protected area centers on a shallow, gradually silting-up forest pond together with adjacent wetlands along a small side ravine of the Bělá river valley. The site's conservation value rests on its mosaic of wetland and aquatic habitats, which support several rare and threatened plant and animal species. Among the most notable are the marsh snail Vertigo moulinsiana and the Siberian bulrush, both of which are key reasons the area was designated as a Natura 2000 site of European importance. With its modest size of just a couple of hectares, Valcha represents an example of how small, hydrologically distinct sites can carry surprisingly significant biodiversity value. Its setting beside a railway embankment and within the broader landscape of the Jizerská tabule plateau gives the monument a quiet but ecologically distinctive character.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
