Velká louka

Velká louka is a small protected natural monument located near the village of Orlické Záhoří in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou district of the Hradec Králové Region, Czech Republic. It lies within the administrative area of the Orlické hory Protected Landscape Area and is managed by the Czech Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection through its regional office for that protected landscape. The site is a species-rich peat meadow, a type of wetland habitat that depends on consistently moist, nutrient-poor soils and has become increasingly rare in Central Europe. Its protection reflects the broader value of preserving small, specialized meadow and pool habitats that support distinctive flora and fauna. Although the protected area covers only about 2.28 hectares, its ecological character is disproportionately rich for its size, and it functions as an important local refuge for wetland-dependent species. Velká louka is a typical example of the small-scale but ecologically focused nature monuments that make up much of the Czech protected-area network. Rather than offering sweeping scenery, its significance lies in preserving a finely balanced mosaic of meadow vegetation, small pools, and the species assemblages that depend on this delicate habitat.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
