Vosecký rybník

Vosecký rybník is a small fishpond in the Javořická vrchovina upland of southwestern Czechia, located southwest of the village of Střížovice in the Jindřichův Hradec district of the South Bohemian Region. Declared a natural monument (přírodní památka) on 27 May 2022, it protects roughly seven hectares of pond and its immediate surroundings, including exposed pond bottoms that appear when water levels are drawn down during the summer. The site is most valued for its botanical significance, especially for a thriving population of the strongly threatened Coleanthus subtilis, a small grass that grows on the seasonally exposed muddy sediments of the pond bottom. Several other rare wetland plants and several amphibian species, including common frog, common toad, and common newt, also depend on this traditional fishpond habitat. Although modest in size and relatively recently protected, Vosecký rybník is part of a complex network of more than twenty interconnected fishponds in the Lužnice river basin, fed by the small Lomský potok stream. The natural monument overlaps with a coincident European Site of Community Importance, giving the small pond broader ecological relevance within the regional pond landscape of southern Bohemia.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
