Yding Skov og Ejer Skov

Yding Skov og Ejer Skov is a Danish Natura 2000 habitat area located in the eastern part of Jutland, within the administrative territories of Skanderborg and Horsens municipalities in Region Midtjylland. The protected site covers roughly 130 hectares, of which about 123 hectares are forested, and it sits on what is described as the highest moraine plateau in Denmark. The landscape combines sandy and clay-rich ground, producing a mosaic of lush broadleaf forest and poorer conifer stands, broken by open springs, mires, small lakes, and calcareous seepage zones along the forest slopes. The site is designated primarily for its beech-dominated forest habitats, its alder and ash woodlands along watercourses, and the many small spring-fed seepages that give rise to Bjergskov Bæk, a fast-flowing and exceptionally clean brook that drains northward into Mossø. Cultural heritage is closely tied to the area as well, since Yding Skov contains the famous Yding Skovhøj burial mound complex, where Bronze Age mounds rise to about 173 meters, making it one of the highest natural points in Denmark and a popular destination for visitors interested in both nature and archaeology.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
