Bollwinwiesen/Großer Gollinsee

Bollwinwiesen/Großer Gollinsee is a nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the Uckermark district of Brandenburg, Germany, and forms part of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. The protected area, designated under conservation law on 1 October 1990, combines open wetland meadows around the village of Gollin with a chain of clear, nutrient-poor lakes and surrounding peat-forming mires. Its centerpiece is the Großer Gollinsee, accompanied by the smaller Kleiner Vätersee and, at the northwestern edge, the Polsensee. The reserve was established primarily to safeguard the habitats of threatened animal and plant species and to preserve an oligotrophic, alkaline lake chain along with raised bog communities dominated by Sphagnum mosses. Beyond its ecological role, the area is also recognized for the particular character and outstanding scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape. Today it represents one of the most characteristic lake-and-mire complexes in the northern Brandenburg glacial countryside, embedded within a broader UNESCO-recognized biosphere region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
