Cahuita National Park

Cahuita National Park is a protected area straddling both terrestrial and marine environments on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast in Limón Province. The park is contiguous with the small town of Cahuita and protects a stretch of pristine beach, coastal lowland forest, and an extensive coral reef system in the Caribbean Sea. Established as a national park in 1978 and formally ratified in 1982, the area represents one of the few remaining relatively undeveloped coastal protected zones in this region of Costa Rica. The park is notable for its dual protection of both jungle and reef ecosystems, creating a seamless transition from rainforest to coral reef that supports remarkable biodiversity both on land and underwater.
