Kunë-Vain-Talë-Patok-Fushëkuqe-Ishëm Nature Park

Kunë-Vain-Talë-Patok-Fushëkuqe-Ishëm Nature Park is a coastal and wetland protected area in Lezhë County in northern Albania, where the Drin River meets the Adriatic Sea. It protects a remarkable mosaic of habitats arranged around the Kunë-Vain lagoon and Kunë Island, including Mediterranean pine woodlands, alluvial forests, reed beds, coastal marshes, dunes, and sandy beaches. The territory has a layered protection history: it was the first area in Albania formally set aside for conservation when declared a hunting reserve in 1940, and it was re-established under modern nature-reserve legislation in 2010 under the administration of the National Agency of Protected Areas. BirdLife International recognizes the lagoon and its surroundings as an Important Bird Area, reflecting the site's importance for both wintering waterbirds and breeding species. Today the park is valued both as a significant biodiversity reservoir within the Illyrian deciduous forests and Mediterranean woodlands ecoregion and as an accessible natural escape near the city of Lezhë, the coastal town of Shëngjin, and within day-trip distance of Tirana. Its combination of lagoon ecology, woodland, and Adriatic shoreline makes it unusual in Albania's network of protected areas.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
