Las Ochoża Nature Reserve

Las Ochoża Nature Reserve is a forest nature reserve located in eastern Poland, on the territory of Gmina Wyryki in Włodawa County, Lubelskie Voivodeship. The reserve was officially established in December 2024 as part of the initiative marking the centenary of Poland's State Forests, and it is named in honor of the ornithologist Marek Keller, who helped document the area that would later receive protection. The reserve covers roughly 193 hectares of lowland forest set within the greater Sobiborskie Forest complex, in the Zaklęsłość Sosnowicka mesoregion near the border with Belarus. Its habitats include ash-alder riparian forests, currant alder swamps, and small elevated islands of oak-hornbeam woodland, all important for biodiversity and water storage. The reserve sits entirely within the Natura 2000 Special Protection Area known as Uroczysko Mosty-Zahajki, giving it additional recognition as habitat for protected bird species. Beyond its ecological role, the area also contains an early medieval Slavic hillfort on a small forested island, adding a meaningful archaeological dimension to the protected landscape.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
