Vlčí louka

Vlčí louka is a small protected natural monument in the Czech Republic, located in the Jizera Mountains on the southern slope of Smědavská hora near the town of Hejnice in the Liberec region. It was established in 1965 to safeguard one of the highest-lying raised bog sites, known in Czech as a vrchoviště, found anywhere in the Jizera range. Despite its modest size, the site captures a distinctive combination of mountain peatland vegetation and dwarf pine habitat at an elevation well above 1000 meters. The protected area is characterized by the typical plant community of an upland bog, including carnivorous sundews and bog rosemary, alongside creeping dwarf pine (Pinus mugo) that frames the wet meadow. It also supports fauna of conservation interest, including the black grouse, a bird closely associated with open mountain habitats. Vlčí louka sits within a network of small protected natural monuments and forest reserves, forming part of a broader landscape of conservation sites along the Jizera ridgeline.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
