About Dębina Nature Reserve

Dębina Nature Reserve

Dębina Nature Reserve is a small, actively managed forest reserve in the Opole Voivodeship of southwestern Poland. It lies within Gmina Grodków in Brzeski County, on forested land between the villages of Głębocko and Kopice, along the Nysa Kłodzka river. The reserve protects a remnant fragment of the historic Puszcza Niemodlińska forest complex, preserving natural stands of oak-hornbeam and riparian forest with trees of considerable age and size. The site is most valued for its old-growth character and its populations of characteristic spring geophytes, including extensive carpets of snowdrops and dense stands of wild garlic. These botanical features, combined with the reserve’s position inside the broader Bory Niemodlińskie Protected Landscape Area and the Natura 2000 site Opolska Dolina Nysy Kłodzkiej, give it strong ecological and conservation significance at the regional level. As a forested reserve with active protection, Dębina functions less as a visitor destination and more as a quiet sanctuary for native woodland flora, breeding birds, bats, and small mammals. Its identity is shaped by continuity with the once-vast Niemodlin Forests and by the contrast between the reserve’s near-natural stands and the surrounding, more heavily used agricultural landscape of the Nysa Kłodzka valley.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
