Diabli Skok Nature Reserve

Diabli Skok Nature Reserve is a small forest reserve in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, in the Złotów County area near the town of Jastrowie. It protects a deep, steep-sided gorge cut into a moraine landscape on the Równina Wałecka plain in the historic lake district of northwestern Poland. The reserve was established to safeguard old-growth and mixed beech forest hanging on the ravine's slopes, together with abundant springs and the moss and liverwort flora that depend on the cool, humid air that accumulates there. The protected area is best known for hosting a community of plants that would normally be expected in mountain regions further south. Cold air drainage, shaded slopes, and constant groundwater seepage create conditions cool and humid enough to support montane bryophytes and associated vascular plants rarely found in the lowlands of northern Poland. The ravine is also the source area for the Rurzyca River and feeds small lakes downstream, linking the reserve to a wider network of wetlands and protected landscapes in the Pojezierze Wałeckie region. Although far smaller than many of Poland's national parks, Diabli Skok is regarded as an ecologically important site because of its unusual vegetation and its role in protecting a relict microhabitat. It lies within the broader Pojezierze Wałeckie and Gwda Valley Protected Landscape Area and borders the neighbouring Wielkopolska Dolina Rurzycy reserve, reinforcing its regional conservation significance.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
