Kacze Błota Nature Reserve

Kacze Błota is a peatland nature reserve located in Gmina Dzwola, in Janów County, within Lubelskie Voivodeship in eastern Poland. The reserve lies within the broader Lasy Janowskie Landscape Park, on the transition between the Roztocze uplands and the Sandomierz Basin, an area historically covered by the great Solska Forest. The reserve was established in 1988 to protect a high bog, fragments of transitional peatland, surrounding boggy pine forest, and sandy dune formations that represent characteristic elements of the former Solska Forest landscape. Its central zone consists of waterlogged peat soils, while sandy ridges around the bog carry podzol soils under pine-dominated vegetation. Although drainage work in the surrounding landscape has reduced water levels and caused small bog pools to disappear, the reserve remains an important refuge for protected and regionally rare species, including several sundews, gentians, clubmosses, and lichens typical of undisturbed acidic peatland ecosystems.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
