Mały Borek Nature Reserve

Mały Borek Nature Reserve is a small forest reserve located in the Gmina Płaska of Augustów County, in the Podlaskie Voivodeship of northeastern Poland. It lies within the broader Augustów Primeval Forest (Puszcza Augustowska), one of the largest remaining forest complexes in the country, and sits within the mesoregion known as the Augustów Plain (Równina Augustowska). The reserve was created to preserve characteristic types of pine bore forest typical of the Augustów Primeval Forest, particularly the crowberry-type and cowberry-type pine communities. Together with associated peatlands, alder stands, and spruce-rich patches, the reserve protects a representative sample of the natural forest landscapes of this part of northeastern Poland. Beyond its biodiversity value, Mały Borek forms part of the Natura 2000 bird protection area 'Puszcza Augustowska' and is recognized for providing refuge for sensitive birdlife, especially the capercaillie (głuszec). It combines scientific, educational, and habitat-protection roles in a relatively compact area.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
