Mechowisko Kosobudki Nature Reserve

Mechowisko Kosobudki Nature Reserve is a small peatland reserve in western Poland, situated in the Lubusz Voivodeship within the Świebodzin county, on the territory of Łagów commune. It lies on the Równina Torzymska mesoregion, just west of the village of Kosobudki and directly along the course of the Pliszka River. The reserve protects a compact complex of low peat bogs with their associated water-and-mire ecosystems. Within the protected area and its surroundings, four ecologically distinct types of peatlands occur: fluviogenic, poligenic, spring-fed, and lakeland peatlands. Because of the habitat diversity, the site supports a rich community of protected, endangered, and threatened plant species, as well as a varied fauna of fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds linked to wetland environments. Although officially established only in 2017, the site has been recognized for its natural value since the late 1990s, when conservationists first proposed protecting a larger peatland complex in this area. Today it represents one of the newer, peatland-focused protected sites in the Lubusz region and a notable example of citizen-led conservation in Poland.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
