Moczary Nature Reserve

Moczary Nature Reserve is a small floristic protected area in southeastern Poland, located in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship within the Lubaczów County and the gmina of Wielkie Oczy. It lies inside the Łukawiec forest district managed by the Lubaczów Forest Administration, and sits within the Płaskowyż Tarnogrodzki mesoregion, a landscape of flat lowland terrain typical of the eastern Polish lowlands. The reserve was created in 2004 under a regulation of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Governor, and covers roughly twelve hectares of lowland forest. Its core protection goal is the survival of a rich population of wild garlic, crow garlic, or wild onion (czosnek siatkowaty), recorded as a glacial relict dating back to the Boreal period of the Holocene. Around four hectares of the reserve are occupied by this species, with several tens of thousands of individuals forming a remarkably dense postglacial relict community. Beyond its flagship plant, the reserve is important for preserving a complete forest community, including several protected and regionally rare herbaceous species. Its location inside the Natura 2000 Łukawiec site adds an additional layer of European habitat protection and makes it a meaningful local landmark for botanical and ecological interest in the region.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
