Réserve naturelle régionale de la colline Saint-Martin et des Rougeaux

The Réserve naturelle régionale de la colline Saint-Martin et des Rougeaux is a small regional nature reserve located in the Île-de-France region of north-central France, on the territory of the commune of Montereau-Fault-Yonne in the department of Seine-et-Marne. Established in 2024, the reserve protects around 27.68 hectares of semi-natural habitat set within a densely urbanised environment, making it a notable example of biodiversity conservation at the edge of a town. The protected area combines two distinct natural zones: roughly 18 hectares on the Saint-Martin hill and about 10 hectares on the Rougeaux site, which lies in a dry valley adjacent to the Seine valley. The reserve's ecological interest arises from the close proximity of habitats shaped by very different land uses, including former quarries, pastoral areas, and managed green spaces. Continuous with a broader mosaic of habitats around the priory of Saint-Martin and the Surville urban neighbourhood, the site plays a local but meaningful role in preserving biodiversity within the Seine-et-Marne landscape.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
