Jezioro Mścin Nature Reserve

Jezioro Mścin Nature Reserve is a small faunistic nature reserve in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship of northern Poland, located in Gmina Kurzętnik within the Brodnica Lake District (Pojezierze Brodnickie). Established in April 2024, the reserve protects an artificially restored shallow wetland that was originally a natural lake, drained at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and converted into meadows crossed by drainage ditches. The reserve was created to safeguard a concentration of rare and protected breeding and migratory waterbirds and their habitat, a large, shallow reservoir with a richly developed shoreline of reed and bulrush beds, willow and alder scrub, and open water zones. Despite its very recent formal protection, the site has already become recognized for its importance to waterfowl, waders, marsh-nesting species, and birds of prey that hunt over the wetland. Jezioro Mścin fits into a broader network of nearby protected areas, including the Żurawie Bagno reserve and the Wyspa na Jeziorze Partęczyny Wielkie reserve, both lying a few hundred meters to the west. Together they form part of a regionally significant cluster of wetland habitats along the border between the Warmian-Masurian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian voivodeships.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
