Muńcoł Nature Reserve

Muńcoł Nature Reserve is a small floristic reserve covering 45.20 hectares in the Beskid Żywiecki range of southern Poland. It lies within the Żywiecki Landscape Park, on the eastern slopes of the Muńcuł and Kotarz massifs, between roughly 925 and 1120 meters in elevation. The reserve was established in 1998 to safeguard a notably large stand of common snowdrops growing within a patch of fertile Carpathian beech forest. The protected site is especially valued for its spring wildflower displays, when the forest floor is dominated by mass-flowering snowdrops, followed by pink corydalis and coralroot toothwort. The reserve sits alongside a marked tourist trail and an educational path, making it an accessible place to experience Carpathian beech woodland and rare submontane flora. Although compact in size, Muńcoł represents a regionally significant example of rare Polish forest community, with active management aimed at preserving both its botanical character and its scenic mountain forest setting.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
