Skalní sruby Jizery

Skalní sruby Jizery is a small Czech natural monument (přírodní památka) located on the right bank of the Jizera River, just upstream of its confluence with the Zábrdka stream. The protected site lies in the cadastral area of Ptýrov, near the town of Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou in the Mladá Boleslav district of the Central Bohemian Region. The monument protects a roughly one-kilometer stretch of steep sandstone cliff that has been undercut by lateral river erosion, producing an elongated rock shelter, or "skalní srub," with associated pseudokarst hollows. The feature is considered one of the most illustrative examples of deep-weathering forms in Bohemian Cretaceous sandstones. Although the area covers only about two hectares, the combination of exposed sandstone, the riverside ledge, and mixed woodland habitat supports a surprisingly varied community of plants, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, and breeding birds, including the regionally notable presence of the grey wagtail.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
