Suckower Haussee Nature Reserve

Suckower Haussee is a small nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) in the Uckermark district of Brandenburg, in northeastern Germany. It covers roughly 137 hectares and centers on the Haussee lake along with the surrounding wetland and grassland habitats between the villages of Suckow and Stegelitz, both part of the municipality of Flieth-Stegelitz. The reserve was established on 12 September 1990, shortly after German reunification, and is now part of the wider network of protected areas in the Uckermark region. Its protection purpose is focused on preserving and restoring habitats for threatened plant and animal species, especially the ecological communities of spring mires, wet meadows, and dry grassland that exist side by side in this part of the landscape. Although modest in size, Suckower Haussee is a representative example of the habitat mosaic typical of the Uckermark: limnic, peat-forming wetland habitats next to dry, nutrient-poor grassland communities. The protected area contributes to the broader conservation landscape of northeastern Brandenburg, complementing nearby reserves around lakes, forests, and river valleys.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
