Vranovské skály

Vranovské skály is a small Czech natural monument (přírodní památka) protecting a distinctive cluster of sandstone towers on the southern flank of the Ralsko hill in northern Bohemia. The protected area lies in the Liberec Region, Česká Lípa District, straddling the cadastral area of Svébořice within the town of Ralsko, just above the hamlet of Vranov, which belongs administratively to the nearby town of Mimoň. Although modest in size, the site is valued for its pale sandstone formations that stand out visibly against the surrounding dark forests of the Ralská pahorkatina upland. The rocks include named towers such as the Juliina vyhlídka viewpoint and the Mléčný džbán (Džbán) pillar, each with their own climbing and viewing history. Beyond the geomorphological interest, the protection covers a fragile plant community growing on and around the rocks, including dwarf beeches, Norway spruce, bearberry, and several rare or noteworthy species. The combination of light-toned sandstone outcrops, panoramic viewpoints toward Mimoň, and a layered history of names, climbing routes, and literary references makes the locality a meaningful, if compact, element of the region's natural heritage.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
