Wascana Lake Migratory Bird Sanctuary

The Wascana Lake Migratory Bird Sanctuary is a federally designated protected area in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Established on 12 July 1956, it lies within the city of Regina and forms part of the larger Wascana Centre park complex around the man-made Wascana Lake. The sanctuary covers roughly 104 hectares and includes a portion of the adjacent Wascana Waterfowl Park. Although small in total area, the sanctuary plays an important role for migratory waterfowl and other birdlife in southern Saskatchewan. It functions as a refuge within an urban setting, where the lake and surrounding wetland habitats support breeding pairs, seasonal migrants, and a wide variety of resident and visiting species. More than 115 bird species have been recorded using the area, making it a notable inland bird site on the Canadian prairies.
